Guidelines now recommend colorectal cancer screening begin at age 45¹ for those at average risk. To encourage screening, Cigna Healthcare℠ participates in an annual national colon cancer initiative that includes:

• ColoFIT by Labcorp^®.
• Cologuard^® by Exact Sciences^®.
• Sending educational information to our customers about the importance of colon cancer screening and an offer to order an at-home screening kit. We encourage customers to contact their health care provider to determine which colon cancer screening is best for them and share the results with their provider.

2025 HEDIS updates related to colorectal cancer

• For Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS^®)²2025 measurement year, only electronic clinical data systems reporting will be used for the colon cancer screening measure.³
• Due to this change, we will no longer be able to review medical records for compliance with the HEDIS colon cancer screening measure.
