Cigna Healthcare recently introduced Health Sense ℠, a connected patient experience and clinical support model that helps individuals access support earlier, collaborate with their treating clinicians on informed care decisions, and move more seamlessly through their care journey.
Health Sense builds on Cigna Healthcare experiences already in use, including the myCigna digital platform, customer service, established care management programs, and clinical support services.
As patients engage with Cigna Healthcare over time, information from one interaction informs the next interaction, reducing the need for patients to repeat their story or piece together guidance from different places. Health Sense provides relevant context to internal Cigna Healthcare clinical and care teams, helping them personalize support and coordinate around a patient’s existing care plans.
By providing more coordinated support and a clearer understanding of available resources, Health Sense is designed to help reinforce care plans established by treating clinicians and reduce confusion that can contribute to gaps in care. It does not diagnose conditions, prescribe or modify treatment, or replace a treating provider.
“Data provides signals, but context gives those signals meaning,” said Dr. Stanley Crittenden, chief medical officer at Cigna Healthcare. “Health Sense combines that context with clinical expertise to help tailor support to the person, the decision and the moment. That fuller picture helps our clinical and care teams recognize potential needs earlier, connect people with relevant resources and make it easier for them to move from information to action with their treating providers.”
Cigna Healthcare will begin rolling out Health Sense in the first quarter of 2027, initially supporting oncology and cardiometabolic health needs. Any clinical support is intended to complement, not replace, care and treatment from the patient’s treating provider. Cigna Healthcare expects to expand Health Sense over time.
