As Chief Medical Officer for Cigna Healthcare®, I want to express my deepest gratitude to nurses everywhere.
Nursing is a profession grounded in both strength and heart. You bring comfort where there is pain, clarity where there is confusion, and hope where it’s needed most. The care you provide goes far beyond procedures and protocols—it’s personal, purposeful, and deeply human.
Your work has left a lasting mark the past few years. The world watched and applauded as nurses stepped to the front lines during the pandemic. But even after the applause faded and the spotlight moved on, you never stopped showing up—for your patients, your teams, and your communities.
That’s the power of nurses. It’s a presence that holds people together in moments of fear, uncertainty, and healing. And it continues long after the headlines have changed.
I work hand-in-hand with several incredible nurses in my clinical practice. Every week, I personally see the unique and lasting difference you make. Your presence is what holds so much of health care together—not just clinically, but emotionally. You help people feel seen, supported, and safe during life’s most difficult moments.
This Nurses Week, we honor the heart you bring to every shift, every patient, and every interaction. It’s time to reflect on the impact nurses make—but our gratitude extends far beyond these seven days.
Thank you to nurses everywhere for the extraordinary care you provide and the lives you continue to touch.
With appreciation,
Amy Flaster, MD
