July 13, 2026
The Demographic Information and Directories section of the Cigna Healthcare® Professional Reference Guide for Illinois has been updated to reflect the state’s requirements for using the Uniform Electronic Provider Directory Information Form (Uniform Directory Template) to notify health care insurers of changes to their provider directory information, effective July 1, 2026.
When to submit
In addition to routine verification requests, providers must notify Cigna Healthcare electronically within 10 business days of any changes to their provider directory information. Additionally, providers must notify Cigna Healthcare within 20 business days of deciding to cease accepting new patients if the limitation is expected to last 40 business days or longer.
Why it’s important
Our customers rely on up-to-date information in our online directories to locate in-network providers in their geographic area. Outdated provider information may also result in claims processing and reimbursement delays.
How to submit
Please note that paper and fax are no longer acceptable methods for submitting updates in accordance with Illinois Department of Insurance regulations.
