Reminder: Cigna Healthcare Medicare Advantage is moving to Availity Essentials

(March 28, 2025) Cigna Healthcare® Medicare Advantage is partnering with Availity Essentials™ for streamlined and enhanced online capabilities. Beginning April 1, 2025, you can start using Availity Essentials to verify a patient’s eligibility and benefits, check the status of claims, view customer ID cards, and more.

Reminder: New rejection codes for Medicare Advantage claims

(March 27, 2025) On December 5, our claim processing system for Cigna Healthcare® Medicare Advantage plans was updated to include new rejection codes. This may result in claim rejections due to mismatched customer information, such as a misspelled name. Please resubmit claims with correct, matching customer information if you see certain rejection codes.

Health equity resources for your practice

(March 24, 2025) There are a variety of resources designed to help you address the health-related social needs of your patients and provide guidance for the documentation and coding of claims that support social determinants of health (SDOH) documented in a patient’s medical record. In 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services implemented G0136, a code that allows reimbursement for a five- to 15-minute standardized, evidence-based SDOH risk assessment.

Welcome, Cigna Healthcare Medicare Advantage Providers: A message from Health Care Service Corporation

(March 19, 2025) The transaction by Health Care Service Corporation to acquire Cigna Healthcare® Medicare Advantage, Supplemental Benefits, Medicare Part D, and CareAllies businesses is now complete. To ensure a smooth transition, processes in 2025 will largely remain the same. There are no changes to patients’ coverage, plan services, or benefits.

Health Care Service Corporation acquisition of Cigna Healthcare Medicare business complete

(March 19, 2025) On March 19, 2025, The Cigna Group® announced the completion of the sale of its Medicare and CareAllies businesses to Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC). The deal closing has no effect on the Cigna Healthcare commercial business, any contract you may have with Cigna Healthcare commercial, or any other Cigna Group entity.

Access digital ID cards for your patients on CignaforHCP.com

(March 13, 2025) Over the past year, Cigna Healthcare® has transitioned to digital customer ID cards to enable real-time updates for patient benefit plans and other important information, as well as to offer greater efficiency, speed, and security over physical ID cards. Customers can access their digital ID card through the myCigna app or myCigna website, and providers can access it by logging in to the Cigna for Health Care Professionals website.

(March 11, 2025) Effective the second quarter of 2024, Cigna Healthcare® began leveraging the power of technology and data for digital claim and precertification correspondence in the Messaging Center on the Cigna for Health Care Professionals website (CignaforHCP.com). All registered users of CignaforHCP.com who had the claim entitlement and/or the precertification entitlement received access to digital claim correspondence and/or digital precertification correspondence, respectively. CAHPS survey – You can make a difference

(March 7, 2025) Throughout the year, your patients receive surveys asking about their experiences with their health plan and providers. The first of these, the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey, is distributed in early March. Studies show that positive patient experiences lead to better adherence to treatment plans and healthier outcomes.
