Expanded in-network kidney care with Fresenius Medical Care effective January 1, 2026

April 9, 2026

For many people living with kidney disease, the hardest part isn’t just treatment – it’s getting the right support at the right time, close to home. On January 1, 2026, patients enrolled in Cigna Healthcare plans began having greater in-network access to renal care through our strengthened partnership with Fresenius Medical Care (FME). Together, we’re focused on improving quality of life and health outcomes for Cigna Healthcare customers living with kidney disease by making it easier to connect to the right care and support when it’s needed most.

What this means for patients

For patients with Cigna Healthcare coverage, expanded in-network access includes:

  • Nationwide: Comprehensive care teams of nephrologists, dietitians, nurses, and social workers, in more than 2,600 Fresenius Kidney Care1 dialysis centers offering both in-center dialysis and home dialysis programs
  • Select regions: More than 2,300 Interwell Health2 Provider Network nephrologists, renal care coordinators, and in-home virtual support from dietitians, nurses, social workers, and care coordinators through Interwell 360, a value-based program designed to improve clinical outcomes, reduce hospitalizations, and slow disease progression.

We encourage clinicians and customers to consider the in-network kidney care options available within the expanded Fresenius Medical Care network. Collaborating with renal care support services can help streamline transitions of care and reinforce patient education.
