How our national virtual care provider network can support your care and treatment plans

October 15, 2025

Accessing care can sometimes be a challenge for patients for many reasons ranging from logistical barriers to limited time, leading them to postpone or skip important preventive care and chronic condition management appointments. These delays may result in adverse health outcomes and complications. To help remove barriers to care, Cigna Healthcare® has expanded its national virtual care network to improve patient access, close health gaps, and support a positive care experience for both our contracted primary care providers and their patients with Cigna Healthcare coverage.

Benefits for your practice

  • Supports treatment adherence. The national virtual care provider network is designed to enhance primary care and support adherence to your patients’ treatment plans – not replace them. The provider who owns the patient relationship receives updates, delivered securely from the virtual provider, supporting the patient’s treatment plan, such as notes from virtual care visits, results of any laboratory testing and diagnostics, and recommended follow-up care.
  • Promotes continuity in care. This network can provide additional support for your patients who require immediate attention in-between visits with you, particularly those facing transportation barriers or needing flexible scheduling. Bridging these needs may help reduce no-shows and cancellations for your in-person appointments.
  • Extends the reach of your practice.  The national virtual care provider network can help you to extend the reach of your practice by offering specialized assistance in various areas, including primary and urgent care, behavioral health, chronic condition management, and specialty care for patients of all ages.

Benefits for your patients

  • Expanded access to care. Your patients can connect with providers within hours or days, often on-demand or after hours – effectively removing geographic and accessibility barriers.
  • In-network benefit coverage. The virtual care network consists of nationally contracted in-network providers, ensuring maximum coverage for your patients based on their in-network benefit level.
