Supporting youth mental health: Expanding access and strengthening community care

June 26, 2026

The Cigna Group Foundation announced $3 million in grants to 22 nonprofits working to improve youth mental health and strengthen support systems across 10 states.

The funding is part of the Foundation’s three-year, $9 million commitment to expanding access to care and reaching youth and families earlier, particularly in communities where needs continue to outpace available resources.

The initiative focuses on three priorities:

  • Increasing access to mental health services for youth ages 5 to 18
  • Equipping caregivers and those who support young people
  • Strengthening pathways to early intervention and care.

The grants span organizations across multiple states—reflecting a broad, community-based approach to youth mental health:

  • Arizona
  • Connecticut
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Illinois
  • Missouri
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania
  • Tennessee
  • Texas

In parallel, the Foundation continues its national partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to expand mental health support for young people nationwide. Since 2024, 90% of Clubs have completed trauma-informed training, and more than 250 teens have participated in a pilot Behavioral Support Toolkit.
