Cigna Healthcare LocalPlus® plans are health plans that provide access to a local network of doctors, specialists, and hospitals. Customers enrolled in these plans are required to visit providers who participate in the LocalPlus network for in-network coverage. Although most care is accessed locally, customers can receive care anywhere in the country where there is a LocalPlus-participating provider.
Away From Home Care is an important adjunct to LocalPlus plans for customers who travel. In areas where there are no LocalPlus providers, it allows them to receive care at the in-network level from Cigna Healthcare Open Access Plus (OAP) network-participating providers.
For OAP-participating providers that render Away from Home Care
Claims
We process claims for Away From Home Care at the in-network level and at your contracted OAP rate.
Referrals
Referrals are not needed. However, we encourage providers to refer these patients to Cigna Healthcare-participating providers. To find participating physicians and facilities, go to Cigna.com > Find a Doctor. Then select a directory.
How to identify a patient with a LocalPlus plan
View your patient’s LocalPlus ID card. It will contain information about claims submission, customer service contacts, and benefits. Open Access Plus and the “Away from Home Care” logo will appear on the back of the card.
As a reminder, some of your patients may present their ID cards digitally. To learn more, visit our dedicated digital ID card web page for providers at CignaforHCP.com/DigitalIDcards.
