Notable information and reminders

April 1, 2024

We want to share with our valued behavioral health providers some important administrative reminders when caring for an Evernorth Behavioral Health and/or Cigna Healthcare customer.

Check eligibility and benefits prior to rendering services

As many benefit plans change at the beginning of the year, we recommend that you confirm a patient’s benefits, eligibility, and any financial responsibility at their first visit of the new calendar year with you.

  • Register and login to the Evernorth Behavioral Health provider portal at Provider.Evernorth.com for 24/7 access to patient eligibility, benefits, claims status and more. See below for more information on the provider portal. Providers can also verify patient benefits and eligibility by calling the number on the back of patient’s ID card.*

*Patients may more frequently start to present at your office with a digital ID card. Please review the toolkit at Provider.Evernorth.com/DigitalIDCards if you have any questions or need help checking a customer’s benefits and eligibility.

Register for Evernorth’s portal for 24/7 access to patient eligibility, benefits, and provider resources

Evernorth Behavioral Health’s website, Provider.Evernorth.com, is full of information and tools to help you do business with us, such as:

We also have a secure provider portal on Provider.Evernorth.com to give providers 24/7 access to patient information such as eligibility, benefits, and claims status. After portal registration, providers can also:

  • View remittance reports
  • Enroll in and manage Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
  • Make demographic/directory profile updates

Visit our Provider Webinars webpage for a schedule of upcoming free webinars that show you how to navigate the portal and perform time-saving transactions that will benefit you and reduce your administrative burden.

Coordination of care

Evernorth relies on trusted partners like you to communicate and facilitate the process of care coordination between medical and behavioral health care providers. It is important to discuss coordination of care with your patients and have them sign the appropriate consent forms. You can find sample PDFs of the consent to release form and letter to download in the Behavioral Administrative Guidelines > Primary Care Physician (PCP) Communication Information Appendix G.
